In June 2008 the UnitingCare Joint Chair in Social Policy and Research was established in partnership with the University of Queensland. This important position demonstrates UnitingCare's clear commitment to build on its research capability in order to deliver improved outcomes for the people cared for by its service groups and hospitals, and to better influence social policy. Professor Jill Wilson AO, was appointed the inaugural Chair and a research committee, comprising representatives from each of the UnitingCare service groups and hospitals, was established. The key focus of this committee is the encouragement and use of research across UnitingCare with the aim of achieving change in policy and program terms in line with UnitingCare values.
